Instructor of Contextual Theology
Alan B. Cabas is currently pursuing his PhD in Religious Studies at Philippine Christian University, Manila. He finished his Master in Theology with distinction in 2017, and his Master of Divinity at Union Theological Seminary, Philippines in 1996. He also finished his Bachelor’s degree of Agricultural Development major in Agricultural Extension from Visayas State College of Agriculture (ViSCA) now Visayas State University (VSU) in 1992.
Alan is currently teaching Geotheology, Jesus The Community Builder, Biblico-Theological Reflection; and co-teaching Christian Theology with Dr. Eleazar S. Fernandez at Union Theological Seminary. He is also the convenor of UTS Geo-applied Theology Center (UGAT -Center). His article “The Mayaw Concept of Creation, God, and Human” is published in the 2019 Union Seminary Bulletin, and another article entitled, “Dwelling and Healing: Reconnecting our Heart to the Heart of the Earth” will be published this year (2021) in The Union Seminary Journal. He is an ordained Elder of the United Methodist Church from the Visayas Philippine Annual Conference (VPAC) of the Davao Episcopal Area.
